ECHO - Schools promoting global citizenship

The ECHO-project aims at promoting critical global citizenship through education, training and information to convince of the need to tune the western "helping" approach on development to be more based on hearing, planning and implementation of equal partnership to make all development to be sustainable.

The project time is used to enabling the direct contact between the Raudaskylš and Ylivieska upper secondary schools in Finland and local Ngarenanyuki secondary school in Tanzania.

The global education for youth is planned and implemented jointly together with the teaching staffs of schools. Themes of this education are mainstreamed to various subjects like religion, art, biology, geography etc. Active information delivery will take up relevant global issues for discussion and present human stories of people from developing countries.

Echo is supported by the official development aid from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland
